Fire Safety Officer
ACCOUNTABILITY : Chief Fire Safety Officer
PRIMARY ROLE
To assist the Chief Fire Safety Officer in operating an efficient, professional and effective Fire Safety Department to fulfill its mission to protect and save lives and properties in Bintan Resorts
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responds to all fire, rescue and special service calls where lives and properties are concerned, and to assume command from the initial ground commander.
2. Ensure the operational readiness of the department is maintained at the highest level i.e. all equipment are in good working condition and the manning is at the approved level.
3. Reviews current operational doctrine and recommend new ones to meet changing technology and threats/hazards.
4. Plans, develops and conducts fire fighting training for resort operators/investors and BRC staff to instill fire safety awareness amongst them.
5. Conduct fire safety audit at all premises and submit findings and recommendations to building management/owners.
6. Train and guide Resort Fire Safety/Crisis Coordinators to ensure that their premises are safe at all times.
7. Supervises and evaluates the work of the subordinates to ensure effective performance.
8. Sources, evaluates and recommends the acquisition of relevant firefighting and rescue equipment for the department.
9. Develops, implements and update the Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) of the fire station.
10. Conducts staff performance appraisal and recommends those with potential for promotion and advanced training.
11. Conducts fire investigations for all property fires and/or where lives are involved.
12. Covers the duties of Chief Fire Safety Officer in his absence.
13. Performs weekly duties, or as and when required to do so, as a Duty Fire Officer.
Job Requirement
a. Qualification
* Minimum Diploma
* Registered Fire Safety Manager with SCDF or relevant authorities
* Possess class 3 driving licence
* Possess basic computer skills
b. Experience
* At least 5 years of operational experience in the civil or industrial fire department
* Experience in conducting training and audits
c. Competencies
* Good leadership qualities
* Ability to plan & organize
* Ability to guide and motivate subordinates
* Good communication skills at all levels
* Team worker
